What does an insurance broker do?

A broker works for you, not the insurer. We assess your risks, find suitable cover from insurers, explain the terms and help you when you claim.

Does it cost more to use a broker?

Brokers are generally paid a regulated commission by the insurer, which is built into the premium. Any additional fees would be disclosed to you upfront in writing.

Can you review my existing policy?

Yes. Send us your current schedule and we will check it for gaps, duplicated cover and conditions you should know about.

Can you help with a claim that was rejected?

Where authorised and appropriate, we will review the decision against the policy wording and raise concerns with the insurer. We cannot guarantee an outcome, but we make sure your position is properly put forward.

What is SASRIA cover?

SASRIA covers damage caused by riots, strikes, civil commotion and public disorder, which is excluded from most standard policies. It is added to your policy as a separate cover.

What is average and why does it matter?

If you insure something for less than its real value, the insurer may reduce your claim in proportion. Keeping sums insured up to date protects you from this.

Do you only work with businesses in Johannesburg?

We are based in Kempton Park but assist clients across South Africa.

Are you authorised?

Yes. Buckton Insurance Brokers is an Authorised Financial Services Provider, FSP No. 54217.

Still have a question?

Ask us directly. We would rather explain it now than at claim time.
